QE2 is as dull as dogwater: Springborg

Acting Prime Minister, Peter Beattie, has defended what some have called a classic case of 'over-hilarity' at a comment made by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

Mr Beattie was meeting with the Queen at Windsor Castle to discuss reef bleaching and corgis when the incident occurred. Her Majesty reportedly made an oblique reference to a certain fox-hat that Prince Charles had reportedly acquired when in Tolga. According to a member of the press-pool who did not want to be named, "Beattie nearly fell over with laughter. His gob was so widely open that his face almost split in two. The bastard cackled for about ten minutes. It was weird."

In an exclusive interview with the Plain Dealer today, Leader of the Opposition, Lawrence Springborg, did not mince his words.

"Mr Beattie lacks the emotional IQ to be able to attribute the appropriate amount of hilarity to a normal conversational exchange," he said. "We all know that Her Majesty the Queen is not a funny woman. She's as dull as dogwater. Probably duller. When Beattie has a meltdown like this during a polite conversation about haberdashery it makes the whole country look bad. And he's got form. Remember when he jumped onto the Rudd two-point-oh debacle? Ruddy just had to stick out his fucking finger and Beattie would completely lose it. Every time. This is unacceptable behaviour for an acting PM."

Buckingham Palace did not respond to our requests for comment.
