Blackboard artist apologises for cock drawing, blames Germans

Popular northern beaches blackboard artist, Jimmy "Chub" Locke has formally apologised for his artwork (above) which was displayed at the entrance to L'Unicos restaurant at Trinity Beach on Tuesday and Wednesday last week.

Mr Locke, who made the front page of the Cairns Post with his classic works "Stressed is backwards Desserts" and "Not Pilates; Pie + Lattes" has been in great demand across the region for his quirky view of the world. He was clearly remorseful as he fronted the media today and claimed he never intended to offend anyone with his Cock sketch.

"I just hope no kiddies were upset," said Locke. "I never intended any harm. But its fucking hard coming up with new ideas. It's no excuse but I couldn't concentrate because there's a bunch of German backpackers playing some pretty aggressive Martin/Luther in the pool at Coral Sands. Also I was in the middle of a two-day earworm of '99 Luftballoons.' I eventually had to give myself a dose of Carly Rae Jepson, which is pretty risky. Also I was super hungover on Rawson's Retreat."

Mr Locke has agreed to apply a self imposed eight hour "cork to chalk" period, and will undergo a regular audit by peak industry body, the Cairns Blackboard Artists Association (CBAA).

Locke seemed happy with the outcome. "Could a been worse," he said. "I'm just thankful it was 3pm and not a couple of hours later when I drew it". Management at Lunico's have declined to comment.
