UglyModels to set up in Kuranda
Acclaimed British modelling agency, UglyModels, have announced plans to set up offices in Kuranda.
In support of the company's policy of aggressive expansion, Asia Pacific manager Austin Braxton visited the region to assess its suitability for an agency.
"At Ugly, we go where the talent is," explained Mr Braxton. "In the last few months I've been to Nukuʻalofa, Rawalpindi and Tolga, but as I walked around those Kuranda markets I have to say I've never seen a such a collection of ugbos and weird fuckers. It's a goldmine."
Managing Director of local agency Tropical Talent, Tommy Heffernan, is not concerned with the added competition.
"We're not worried. We're simply not operating in the same marketplace," explained Heffernan from his office in Abbot Street. "The UM crowd represent frosty queens, dental refugees and other mugly mofuglies. Our clients are drawn from the most camera-facing and cool humans to be found up here, such as Lincoln Humphries and Julian Assange. Paul Taylor is about as far as we'll go."
UglyModels will be the latest in a series of big name brands to establish a presence on the Tablelands, including the likes of Burberry, Tesla and Royal Redlynch. And the acclaimed Nobu restaurant is planning to open up an eatery outside the Butterfly House in Kuranda.
